The Apostle Paul called himself “the servant of Christ”, but in his day there really were no servants, only slaves. The Greek word Paul used is better translated “under rower”, the slave who occupied the lowest position in the galley of a ship powered by the sweat of men. Those who are in Christ have been justified before God. But salvation means much more; it means that we are sanctified, that God actually leads us into holiness.
