Cloud of Witnesses: A Treasury of Prayers and Petitions through the Ages is an encouraging collection of one hundred prayers written by authors throughout church history, beginning in the first centuries. Cloud of Witnesses invites you to pray the very same words written and prayed by many forefathers of the Christian faith, including Augustine of Hippo from the fourth and fifth centuries, Anselm and Thomas Aquinas from the time of the Medieval church, and Henry Scougal and Jeremy Taylor from the Reformation period. The book contains prayers for many of life’s circumstances, including personal holiness, hope, thanksgiving, mercy, and faith. There are also morning prayers and evening prayers. Cloud of Witnesses includes a brief biography of each historical writer and presents the prayers in their original text as a reference source in the back of the book.
