WHAT ARE SOME “THINGS” BELONGING TO THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD THAT WE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW? 2 PETER 1:1-11 1. (V1-3) We are divinely EMPOWERED 2. (V4) We already possess all of God’s magnificent PROMISES 3. (V5-7) We should start APPLYING what we’ve been given 4. (V8) We should continue GROWING in what we’ve been given. ▪ Key Word(s): are increasing: to exist in abundance. ▪ Key Verse(s): 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13; 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 5. (V9) We can’t become FORGETFUL . ▪ Key Word(s): blind: to envelope with smoke; figuratively to be mentally blind, ignorant, stupid, or slow of understanding; short-sighted: to see dimly, see only what is near; to shut the eyes; or to squint like one who cannot see clearly; forgotten his purification: forgetfulness; oblivion; this is where the word “lethal” and “lethargy” are derived. ▪ Key Verse(s): 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 1:18-19 6. (V10) We should strive to employ perfect PRACTICE. ▪ Key Word(s): practice these things: to produce, construct, form, or fashion; to be the authors or cause of; to make ready, to prepare; to make a thing out of something; to carry out, to execute; a completed action; what one does repeatedly or habitually. ▪ Key Verse(s): Romans 13:11-14; 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; Colossians 3:1-23 7.
