Hello and welcome to Hope from the Word. Recently in our study of Second Samuel, we learned about David's sin of adultery with Bethsheba and the subsequent murder of her husband, Uriah. We fast-forward ten years. David is a new man. He has repented from his sin and is seeking to make things right. Bathsheba's grandfather, Ahithophel, has stored bitterness and resentment in his heart over the course of this ten-year period. Now we're about to see him launch a rebellion against David. Part of us may want to side with Ahithophel. It's understandable that he would be angry about what happened to his granddaughter. But we'll learn that vengeance is never our right and forgiveness is a must! Here's Pastor Bill Luebkemann to elaborate from Second Samuel seventeen.
